Justin C K Lau
While studying at the Architectural Association, Justin was awarded the William Glover Prize for Innovative Design. He completed his architectural studies at the University of Westminster and awarded the runner up of the RIBA / CLAWSA prize and received a distinction in his final year design thesis. In 2004, He won the joint 1st place on the RIBA and LSC international competition scheme ‘College for the Future’, exploring an innovative futuristic concept for the redevelopment of further education buildings and facilities.
Between 2002-2006, he worked for Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners where he involved working on a number of projects, most notably 122 Leadenhall Street, a prestigious unprecedented high-profile 50 storey office building in the City of London which he saw through from concept design to planning. During his time at RRP. Justin worked primarily on One Hyde Park, a £250 million luxury residential scheme in Knightsbridge comprising 80 high-end units. He saw the project through from concept to scheme design with particular responsibility during the design development. He is currently working at Make Architects.
As well as practicing architecture, Justin has been a guest critic and given workshops at the Architectural Association, Bartlett, University of Brighton and Hong Kong University. He taught at the Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris as an architecture and design tutor in Studio Lau KinugasaTsui alongside with Kenny Kinugasa Tsui. At present, they are running a studio (Unit E) at Oxford Brookes University..
