Johan Voordouw
Johan Voordouw is presently a senior lecturer of Architectural History and Theory at London Southbank University while concurrently working in practice. He has conducted a number of academic workshops throughout the U.K. and has been a guest critic at schools including the Architectural Association, the Royal College of Art, Oxford Brookes and Paris’s Ecole Speciale d’Architecture.
Johan is a graduate of the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL), London of Dr. Marcos Cruz and Dr. Marjan Colletti’s Unit 20 completing his Graduate Diploma in 2007 and a subsequent M.Arch in 2009. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba, Canada (2003) after an internship in the Netherlands (2000).
Johan’s has won a number of international competitions and exhibited internationally, most recently in the Digital Hinterlands Exhibition in London.
Johan’s most recent work explores melding multiple modes of representation in a singular architectural expression. The work seeks to create a series of spatial interplays, one that explores notions of scale, construction and inversion in the experience of spatial constructs. In the future Johan hopes to continue developing modes of expressing the digital – physically, oscillating architectures ability to form the tangible while expressing the imagined.
